Many schools are now using G.A.F.E. (Google Apps for Education) to support their students' computer access and management issues. As a result, teachers are faced with the problem of how to manage the plethora of shared and emailed documents. Andrew Stillman wrote a script to help teachers effectively manage and control access to their students' documents called Doctopus as well as a script for attaching a rubric to the students' document, called Goobric. Participants will learn how to use Doctopus and Goobric, as well as how to unleash the power of the sophisticated sharing technology that GAFE offers while the teacher still maintains control over the documents sent out. Participants will also witness how the quality of their feedback will improve by using Goobric which allows teachers to seamlessly keep track of all their feedback, from numerical to text comments, as it is automatically copied into the "control centre" spreadsheet for the assignment. Once mastered, Doctopus will also enable teachers to easily and subtly differentiate as well as assign shared group work that fosters cooperative learning.
